If someone had told me years ago that the hardest seasons of my life would become the foundation for my strength, I probably would’ve smiled politely and walked away still holding the weight of my grief, uncertainty, and unanswered prayers.
But life has a way of reshaping us in ways we never imagined. And sometimes, it’s the very storm we prayed would pass that ends up revealing who we truly are.
The journey that led me to write this book wasn’t easy. It wasn’t neat or pretty. It was filled with heartbreak, healing, and moments where I questioned whether I would ever feel whole again. But somewhere along the way, I realized that pain, as unbearable as it is, carries with it a quiet invitation: the invitation to grow, to transform, and to rise.
I used to think purpose was something we found in accomplishments or applause. Now I know it’s something we uncover deep within ourselves often in the aftermath of what tried to break us.
This book was my way of reclaiming my voice. Every page is a reflection of lessons I learned the hard way through tears, through faith, and through moments of courage I didn’t know I had. And I wrote it for you for the person who’s walking through their own fire, wondering if there’s anything left on the other side.
Let me assure you: there is. There is life after loss. There is joy after sorrow. There is strength in you that pain cannot take away.
We may not get to choose the storms, but we do get to choose what we build after them. And you, my friend, are capable of building something beautiful.
Whether you’re in a season of rebuilding or just taking your first step toward healing, I want you to know this: your pain is not the end of your story it’s the beginning of your purpose.
Take your time. Give yourself grace. And remember, even the smallest steps forward still count as progress.
I am so deeply grateful for every person who chooses to pick up my book. Not just because of the words I’ve written, but because of the heart behind them. My story is just one example of what’s possible when we choose to turn our pain into purpose and I hope it inspires you to do the same in your own way, in your own time.
Keep going. Your light is still shining.
With love and strength,
Cathy Mazie Carnation
